I recently learned that a dear friend passed away after an 8 year battle with cancer.  She was one of my first friends after moving to Denver and she was kind enough to take me under her wing and help me find my way.  Although I have had many friends and family touched by cancer, this persons passing came as a sign that I was to do whatever I could to support the research to hopefully one day find the cure for cancer.  I am terrified of heights and yet I believe that this is such a worthy cause, I will set aside my fears for one day and honor my friend. 

I am also pleased to be able to say that the president of the Cancer League is a very dear friend.  Gary Reece was the CFO of M.D.C. Holdings and he offered me my position of Director of Payroll and Accounts Payable.  He and his wife, Barb are dedicated to the Cancer League of Colorado's mission of finding a means of controlling or curing cancer.  The Cancer League is an all-volunteer organization that raises money to fund vital research that we hope will find the answers that will end the threat of this deadly disease in our lifetime.
